Bishop Fred A. Caldwell's Biography
Bishop Fred A. Caldwell, Sr. was born in Shreveport La. to Mr. & Mrs. Dawkins and Olive Faye Caldwell at the old Charity Hospital on March 20, 1946.
He was raised in Stoner Hill (Southeast Shreveport), in a public housing project (El Camino Way) formerly Jackson Heights in Shreveport, La.
He is married to Mary K. Caldwell and have two children Timi D. Caldwell (daughter) and Fred A. Caldwell, II (son). He also has three grandsons, Allen Jacobe Caldwell, Aaron Joseph Caldwell and Chase Mikal Caldwell.
Bishop Caldwell graduated from the Booker T. Washington High School in 1964 and entered into the 82nd Airborne Division. In the same year, he rose rapidly up through the ranks and became an E5 Buck Sergeant, and a combat decorated soldier, one of the youngest in his Airborne Division.
In 1972, Bishop Caldwell turned from drug addiction to Jesus Christ after contemplating suicide. He preached his first sermon at the Avenue B.C. on June 12, 1977 under the pasturage of the late Dr. L.D. Scott.
Bishop Caldwell and his family came to Greenwood Acres in the summer of 1981 under Pastor M.M. Flynn and began to pastor with only 13 members. Greenwood Acres membership is now in the thousands, one church in two locations and growing.
In 1994, Bishop Fred A. Caldwell, Sr. was consecrated Bishop at the Greater Stephens F.G.B.C. in New Orleans, under Bishop Paul S. Morton, Sr., making him the first Full Gospel Baptist Bishop in Northwest La and one of the original twelve founding fathers of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International.
Bishop Caldwell received his PH.D. degree from Friends International Christian University, Merced CA in 1992 and founded Greenwood Acres Christian College and School of Ministry. The college is fully accredited and is still producing strong soldiers for God’s Kingdom Building cause.
He has authored four books entitle, “Knowing God”, “ The Righteousness of Faith”, “ Trials and Glory” and “How to Handle Your Alexanders- He did me much Evil.” These books are a tremendous blessing. Bishop Caldwell was also led by the Lord to purchase three radio stations and to establish the Amistad Radio Group, the largest Black owned Radio Group in the state of Louisiana. KASO/KBEF in Minden, La. and KSYB, Shreveport, La. streaming on the worldwide web 24 hrs day, 7 days a week. Bishop Caldwell is the Founder, President and CEO of Amistad Radio Group, Inc.
The Lord has also blessed Bishop Fred A. Caldwell, Sr. to be the first Black developer of a major subdivision in the city of Shreveport. Timberknoll Gated Community is a beautiful, 20 acre tract of land in west Shreveport.
Bishop Caldwell is also in demand as an Evangelist, Lecturer and is a Teacher par excellent of God’s precious word. He also established the Know Your Bible Broadcast, world wide radio outreach of Greenwood Acres Full Gospel Baptist Church. Know Your Bible is 25yrs. old August 2010 and is reaching the world for Christ. To God alone be the Glory for all the things he has done. “God Did It.”.
